Indie Author Spotlight
I want to shine a light on some amazing authors this week. Please make sure to check them all out!
Fate’s Tether
Jade Nioma is a queer Korean American indie author. Close to Jade’s heart is domestic violence awareness and mental health representation, especially after her own struggles with both. Jade hopes her writing will inspire others, and show those who are struggling that their story is not over.
Her book Fate’s Tether is book one in a series about a fate-wielding queen captive in her own kingdom, the Aeria Archipelago, where the three sky-bound islands sit miles above the surface of planet Haelos. With powers of fate and time manipulation, she seeks one end goal: to free herself and her kingdom from its toxic captor, her husband.
One dollar from every copy sold will be donated to domestic violence survivors.
Mad World
Brandon T. Bernard is a bipoc indie author of a grimdark wonderland retelling called Mad World. There are currently four titles in the series. You can buy these wherever books are sold, but right now you can purchase his amazing PR box with all four books, character art and swag!
Cry, Voidbringer
Elaine Ho is an award-winning Asian American illustrator and author. She bounces between the US and Singapore, belonging to both and neither. Ho’s work primarily explores themes of identity and home, while also being drawn to the broken and the beautiful.
In a broken system, do you save yourself or fight for the people you love? Cry, Voidbringer is a gripping saga of how far one will go for freedom and control—and how easily it can all be taken away.
To Divorce a Ghost
R.R. Mangold is a queer black indie author crafting tales about love, grief, healing, and transformation. Her stories often center queer protagonists and explore love, loss, and emotional intimacy. She treats those relationships with nuance, care, and often a touch of spice.
In To Divorce a Ghost, Owen’s dream was simple; move to a quiet seaside town, restore a gorgeous Victorian home, and build a life with his husband, Lucas. But dreams don’t always survive reality. After a tragic accident took Lucas’s life, Owen was left with a crumbling house, a failing pumpkin patch, and a heart too broken to move on.
Token of a Wolf and Promise of a Bruja
Cara Blaine is an elder millennial mom of two, as well as a queer, Puerto Rican spoonie. She’s also an award-winning poet turned prolific romantic fantasy novelist.
Her newest duology is a Little Red Riding Hood inspired romantic urban fantasy, with an element of mystery. The series features queer and latinx characters in a slow burn MMF relationship, as well as Central and South American folklore and a secret society of dark witches. Book one, Token of a Wolf, is available now on Kindle Unlimited. Book two, Promise of a Bruja, releases on November 19th so pre-order now!
Cara also has a KickStarter coming up for the long awaited omnibus of the beloved Luxe’s Lullaby Trilogy!
Feels Like Healing
Kris Mitchell writes tension-filled, fade-to-black, contemporary romance. Her first series is a loose interpretation of her life, filled with found family and all the feels.
Wilder moved across the country to start over after his ex boyfriend broke his heart. Stephanie swore she wasn’t ready to open her heart again after her ex husband shattered her soul. But sometimes, healing looks a lot like taking a leap of faith. In Feels Like Healing, two people scarred by their pasts find hope in each other. This isn’t just a love story—it’s a journey of trust, courage, and the power of starting over.
